A Real Madrid player, valued at £80 million, has communicated to Carlo Ancelotti his desire to end his tenure with the club, expressing a wish to move to the Saudi Professional League.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has provided a significant update on Luka Modric following their 2-1 victory at Las Palmas in La Liga. Despite the team’s need to mount a comeback for the second consecutive La Liga weekend, Modric remained on the bench, with Ancelotti opting not to utilize all five allotted substitutions.

This decision aligns with Ancelotti’s recent strategy of keeping the Croatian international as an unused option for two consecutive matches. Despite Modric not starting a league game since mid-December, Ancelotti clarified that the choice was a technical decision and not a reflection of Modric’s form.

Ancelotti explained, “If I’m not sure he’s going to play, I don’t ask him to warm up. I must respect him. When I’m sure he’s going to come on, I ask him to warm up. But when I have doubts, I don’t. He’s fine and is available for the next game.”

The manager’s comments indicate that Modric’s absence from the pitch is not due to any concerns about his fitness or performance but rather a strategic decision based on specific match scenarios. Ancelotti emphasized the importance of respecting the player’s readiness and not calling him to warm up unless there is certainty about his involvement.

Despite not featuring in recent matches, Modric remains in good condition and is poised for potential inclusion in the upcoming games. Real Madrid is set for midweek action against local rivals Getafe before a highly anticipated Madrid derby at home against Atletico Madrid on February 4.

The situation reflects Ancelotti’s careful management of squad resources and tactical considerations, ensuring that key players like Modric are utilized strategically to maximize their impact on the pitch.

As Real Madrid navigates a busy schedule, including crucial domestic clashes, Ancelotti’s approach aims to maintain a balance between preserving player fitness and achieving positive results on the field. The upcoming fixtures will provide opportunities for Modric to play a vital role in Real Madrid’s pursuit of success in La Liga.
