Jadon Sancho may come back to Manchester United, contingent on certain conditions.

During his initial stint at Borussia Dortmund from 2017 to 2021, Jadon Sancho emerged as one of Europe’s premier wingers. However, a falling out with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United led to his exclusion and subsequent return to Germany on a temporary basis last month.

Sancho has expressed his fondness for Dortmund, likening his return to a feeling of being “home,” which lingered in his mind during his tenure at United.

Yet, his stay might be short-lived, as Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, acknowledged the financial constraints that could hinder a permanent deal for Sancho, similar to the situation with on-loan Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen.

Kehl candidly admitted to Sky Sport Germany that the financial aspect makes securing permanent deals for both Sancho and Maatsen unrealistic. This sentiment is underscored by the substantial fee Dortmund received for Sancho’s transfer to England, highlighting the challenging nature of negotiating permanent transfers.

While Dortmund advocated for a permanent option for Sancho, the negotiating position did not favor their aspirations, and they must accept the current situation.

United opted not to include an option to buy in the loan deal, perhaps banking on the possibility of Sancho rediscovering his form at Dortmund, which could enhance his market value.

This strategic approach mirrors similar loan deals in the past, such as Alexis Sanchez’s move to Inter Milan in 2019.

Despite his lack of minutes at United since August, Sancho has quickly accumulated more Bundesliga playing time in three weeks than Premier League minutes in five months.

Impressively, he made immediate contributions with assists in his first two appearances for Dortmund against Darmstadt and Koln, although he missed the subsequent match against Heidenheim due to injury.

In light of these developments, Sancho’s loan spell at Dortmund presents an opportunity for both player and club to reignite their synergy on the field.

While uncertainties loom over his long-term future, his impactful start suggests that he could play a pivotal role in Dortmund’s campaign, potentially leading to a significant resurgence in his market value.

As the season progresses, Sancho’s performances will undoubtedly be closely monitored by both Dortmund and Manchester United, with the possibility of his value experiencing a notable upturn if he continues to excel in the Bundesliga.
