Manchester United supporters express outrage as Kobbie Mainoo overlooks Cristiano Ronaldo while listing his top three idols at the club.

    adminBy adminMarch 22, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

Mainoo, playing for a prestigious club like United, is surrounded by a rich history and a legacy of legendary players.

Among them is Cristiano Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who rose to prominence at Old Trafford in the 2000s before his record-breaking move to Real Madrid and subsequent return to United in 2021.

Although Ronaldo’s departure from the club just before Mainoo’s senior debut may have limited their direct interactions, it’s likely that Mainoo had the opportunity to train alongside the Portuguese star.

Despite this, when asked to name his top three United icons during an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, Mainoo surprisingly omitted Ronaldo from his list.

Instead, he chose Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, and Eric Cantona as his United icons.

Rooney holds the record for the most goals scored in a United shirt, while Scholes is celebrated as one of the Premier League’s finest midfielders.

Cantona, although before Mainoo’s time, remains an iconic figure whose influence extends beyond his on-field prowess.

Mainoo’s choices reflect the enduring legacy and cultural impact of these United legends, showcasing his appreciation for the club’s history despite not having witnessed Cantona’s era firsthand.

While Ronaldo’s absence from his list may raise eyebrows, Mainoo’s selections are certainly worthy of respect and admiration.
