Wayne Rooney expresses his desire to manage Manchester United in the future.

Rooney, who holds the record for scoring 253 goals during his 13-year tenure at Old Trafford, transitioned into coaching after retiring from playing.

He started as a player-coach at Derby County before returning to D.C. United and briefly managing Birmingham.

Despite setbacks, Rooney, now 38, remains determined to pursue a career in management. He aspires to lead a Premier League team, with Manchester United or Everton being his dream jobs.

Rooney acknowledges the challenges of coaching, including setbacks like his short-lived stint at Birmingham, but he sees them as part of the job and is focused on bouncing back.

Rooney’s time at Derby coincided with financial difficulties, and he faced disappointment upon returning to D.C. United. His tenure at Birmingham ended abruptly after winning only two out of 15 games.

Rooney remains resilient and is determined to learn from these experiences.

While few of Rooney’s former teammates have pursued coaching careers, some, like Michael Carrick, have found success. Others, such as Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, have become pundits.

However, Robin van Persie is working on his coaching qualifications, indicating a potential shift towards coaching for some former players.
