Sunday marks a potential milestone for Eder Militao as he nears his first start of the season for Real Madrid.
Following a gradual return from an ACL injury suffered in August, the Brazilian defender has seen limited minutes in the last four matches.
However, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, speaking in his pre-match press conference via Diario AS, confirmed that Militao is prepared to start against Barcelona if called upon.
“He could potentially start. He’s in need of playing time, and he’s prepared. He’s eager to get on the field. He’s an option for us.”
Militao faces competition from Nacho Fernandez, who impressed against Manchester City, and Aurelien Tchouameni for the starting spot alongside Antonio Rudiger.
Ancelotti also addressed Federico Valverde’s consistency, highlighting his invaluable contributions throughout the season and his anticipated presence in the upcoming El Clasico.
“He’s consistently performed well on the field, significantly aiding the team.
He’s disciplined, which is why I include him. He contributes across various positions – on the wing, in midfield, and elsewhere. He’s indispensable to me.”
