Carlo Ancelotti provides reasoning behind Jude Bellingham’s substitution in Real Madrid’s draw at Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti expressed confidence in Jude Bellingham’s ability to recover from a subdued performance in the Champions League draw against Bayern Munich.

In Tuesday’s semi-final first leg, Bellingham was substituted with 15 minutes remaining, despite Real Madrid trailing by a goal.

Leroy Sane and Harry Kane swiftly overturned the tie with goals in the second half, following Vinicius Jr.’s opener. Vinicius later converted a late penalty to level the match, in which Bellingham struggled to make an impact.

However, Bellingham wasn’t the only unexpected departure, as influential midfielder Toni Kroos, who assisted the first goal, was also replaced.

Ancelotti explained, “We needed a bit more energy. Kroos had a very good game, and Bellingham was suffering from cramps. I had fresh options on the bench, and I had to make a change. I have resources available, and I must utilize them.”

The Madrid coach hinted that he might rest Bellingham for LaLiga matches leading up to the return leg against Bayern at the Estadio Bernabeu next week.

Ancelotti reassured, “He will return to his top form. He was dealing with an injury, which affected him, but he wasn’t at his best today. By Wednesday, he’ll be back to 100%.”

Ancelotti’s comments reflect his belief in Bellingham’s resilience and ability to bounce back from a disappointing performance.

He acknowledges the midfielder’s injury setback but remains optimistic about his future contributions to the team.
