As a result, Everton’s anticipated £500 million takeover is now in jeopardy, casting doubts on their status as a Premier League team going forward.
Adding to the uncertainty, US insurance provider A-Cap decided to sever ties with Miami-based 777 due to the prevailing circumstances.
Despite these challenges, Everton currently sits 11 points above the Premier League relegation zone, even after already dropping eight points this season.
The team remains hopeful of avoiding administration, especially with 777 contributing an additional £16 million to cover immediate costs, on top of the £200 million in funding they provided earlier to keep the team operational.
However, the Premier League is likely to reject 777’s takeover bid given their mounting problems. In the meantime, acting CEO Colin Chong is seeking additional external funding, while Moshiri explores potential alternative buyers.
