This evening, Anthony Martial departed from Manchester United to sign with one of the premier clubs in global football!

Inter Milan’s interest in Anthony Martial for a potential move to Serie A has resurfaced, with reports indicating the Italian side is considering a fresh approach for the French striker.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter’s management is deliberating the prospect of signing Martial, but they harbor reservations concerning his recent poor form and injury woes.

While Martial is on their radar, he isn’t Inter’s primary target in the attacking department. Instead, the club’s focus is primarily on Albert Gudmundsson from Genoa, who has also attracted attention from Tottenham Hotspur in recent months.

However, acquiring Gudmundsson would necessitate a substantial transfer fee. If negotiations for the Icelandic forward prove challenging, Inter may pivot towards Martial as an alternative option.

One advantage of pursuing Martial over Gudmundsson is that Inter wouldn’t have to pay a transfer fee to Manchester United.

Additionally, with Martial’s contract set to expire this summer, Inter could engage directly with the player’s representatives without the need for intricate negotiations with his current club.

A move to Serie A could offer Martial the opportunity for a fresh start as he seeks to rejuvenate his career following a string of disappointing seasons in the Premier League.

At 28 years old, Martial has struggled to replicate the success he enjoyed during his prolific 2019/20 campaign, during which he netted 23 goals in 48 appearances.

Since then, his goal-scoring output has dwindled, with just 19 goals in subsequent seasons, compounded by an unsuccessful loan spell at Sevilla during the latter half of the 2021/22 season.

Martial’s underwhelming performance this season is highlighted by his meager return of two goals in 19 appearances across all competitions.

In contrast, Gudmundsson has been far more prolific, finding the back of the net 12 times in 29 Serie A matches.

Since his arrival at Manchester United from Monaco in 2015, Martial has amassed 317 appearances for the club, scoring 90 goals in the process.

However, his recent struggles have raised questions about his long-term future at Old Trafford, prompting speculation about a potential departure this summer.

For Inter Milan, the pursuit of Martial represents a calculated gamble. While his pedigree and potential are undeniable, concerns linger regarding his consistency and ability to stay fit.

Nevertheless, the allure of acquiring a player of Martial’s caliber on a free transfer may prove too enticing for Inter to ignore as they seek to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming campaign.
