“Romano offers an update on Chelsea’s transfer situation, stating ‘We’ll see what they choose to do.'”

Chelsea are not currently engaged in active negotiations to sign Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho, but they are aware of the situation, according to reports by Fabrizio Romano. The Blues are expected to be one of the busiest clubs in the final days of the transfer window, as they aim to offload several players and potentially bring in a new striker.

As the transfer deadline approaches, Chelsea faces a race against time to complete their desired moves. Among the biggest challenges they face are finding new clubs for Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell. Both players are reportedly on the list of those the club is looking to move on as part of their squad reshuffle.

Despite rumors suggesting a potential swap deal involving Sterling and Sancho, Romano has clarified that no active talks are taking place between Chelsea and Manchester United for the England winger.

While Chelsea is aware of Sancho’s availability, there have been no concrete steps taken towards securing his transfer. Romano hinted that any developments regarding Sancho could emerge in the final hours of the transfer window, indicating that the situation remains fluid.

For Chelsea, the situation with Sterling is particularly complex. Sterling still has three years remaining on his lucrative contract with the Blues, which reportedly exceeds £300,000 per week. This makes it challenging for Chelsea to find a new club willing to take on his high wages.

According to reports from David Ornstein, Sterling is keen to reach an agreement with Chelsea regarding his financial settlement before making any decisions about his future. The prospect of a swap deal involving Sterling and Sancho has been floated, but there is no indication that such a deal is close to being finalized.

Sancho’s potential departure from Manchester United is still a possibility as the transfer window draws to a close. United is reportedly open to moving the former Borussia Dortmund star on, but it remains unclear whether Chelsea is the right fit for him.

The current Chelsea squad does not have an obvious place for Sancho, which complicates the prospect of a move. Financially, a swap deal might make sense for Chelsea, as they would be able to remove Sterling’s high salary from their wage bill. However, Sancho would likely need to accept a pay cut to align with Chelsea’s wage structure.

The allure of Sancho lies in his age and long-term potential. At 23 years old, he represents a more financially valuable asset in the long term compared to Sterling, who is several years older. However, any move would require careful consideration of how Sancho fits into Chelsea’s tactical plans and squad composition.
