Manchester United has reached a conclusion regarding Erik ten Hag’s future, following strong links to Zinedine Zidane.

As the speculation surrounding Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United continues to swirl, Fabrizio Romano has provided a significant update on the situation.

Ten Hag, under intense scrutiny due to a poor run of results, was reported to be on “thin ice” at United, according to The Times. With the club enduring its worst start to a season in 61 years, various names were being considered as potential replacements, including former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane. Sporting CP’s highly-rated boss, Ruben Amorim, was also mentioned as a possible candidate following consecutive heavy defeats to Manchester City and Newcastle.

However, Fabrizio Romano, a prominent journalist, sought to clarify the situation during an appearance on The United Stand, a YouTube channel. In response to the ongoing rumors, Romano stated, “I saw all these stories and rumors around Erik ten Hag and his future, but from what I’m hearing, the reality is that internally, they never considered the possibility of firing Erik ten Hag.” He further emphasized, “Manchester United have never been in touch with Zinedine Zidane and Ruben Amorim.”

Last week, Manchester United promptly refuted reports that they were exploring alternatives to Ten Hag, categorically labeling them as false. However, the topic was raised during a press conference with Ruben Amorim following Sporting’s 4-2 victory over Farense in the Portuguese League Cup.

When asked about United’s alleged interest, he responded, “This year I’m not going to go back to the same conversation as last year. I’m not going to make any kind of comment on these situations.”

Pressed further about a potential move to Old Trafford, Amorim stated, “We don’t know the future; it depends on the results. It has more to do with the general idea of what we need as a team, extra pressure so we don’t hide.

Regarding the future, I have an idea for the end of the season, but I won’t say it now. But the results and the context take us to something different. I don’t want to be commenting on these things. I have not been contacted by Manchester United.”

For Erik ten Hag, a moment of relief came during the weekend when Bruno Fernandes’s last-minute goal secured a crucial three points for Manchester United against struggling Fulham.
