Arsenal’s Nelson is on the verge of a surprising move to a rival Premier League club, a transfer that is expected to make him the most disliked player among Arsenal fans.

Arsenal is poised to entertain offers for Reiss Nelson, with the club open to loaning out the 24-year-old attacker in January, according to sources from Football Insider. Interest has been expressed by both Premier League clubs and top European outfits in acquiring Nelson temporarily during the winter transfer window.

While Arsenal is not inclined to part ways with Nelson permanently, they are willing to allow him to leave the Emirates for the remainder of the season. This decision follows multiple offers that were rejected before Nelson signed a new long-term deal with the Gunners in July. Despite the rejection of permanent moves, Arsenal is now receptive to a temporary departure for the young Englishman.

Nelson, who secured a substantial deal last July, reportedly earning over £100,000-a-week, received the extended contract due to impressive performances towards the end of the previous season. However, his playing time has been limited in the current campaign under Mikel Arteta, with a mere 87 minutes in the Premier League.

Despite a notable contribution, scoring the winning goal in Arsenal’s 1-0 EFL Cup third-round clash against Brentford in September, Nelson has struggled to secure regular game time. This lack of consistent involvement has prompted the club to explore the option of loaning him out, providing an opportunity for the talented winger to gain valuable experience elsewhere.

Nelson, an academy graduate at Arsenal, previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim. However, his stint at Dutch giants Feyenoord did not yield the desired playing minutes.

In a broader context, Arsenal is not only considering Nelson’s potential loan move but is also exploring options to offload midfield duo Thomas Partey and Jorginho in the January transfer window, contingent on receiving suitable offers.

The club’s willingness to let players go, albeit temporarily, reflects a strategic approach to manage squad dynamics and provide opportunities for players to develop and contribute more consistently on the field.
