Real Madrid has at last secured a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich standout Alphonso Davies, who has affirmed his readiness to join Real Madrid this upcoming summer.

In a significant development reported by Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Real Madrid has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich’s left-back Alphonso Davies regarding a potential transfer, set to take place either in 2024 or 2025.

Real Madrid has been actively engaged in direct communication with Davies’ representatives, facilitated by chief scout Juni Calafat and CEO Jose Angel Sanchez.

From the onset of negotiations, Real Madrid has urged the 23-year-old not to extend his contract with Bayern, which is set to expire in 2025.

Numerous meetings have occurred between the two parties in recent times, with one such meeting taking place earlier this month, subsequently expediting the negotiation process.

Regarding Davies’ transfer, Real Madrid has two possible scenarios to consider. Firstly, they could opt to secure the Canadian left-back this summer for a price deemed “below-market.” Alternatively, they could wait until 2025 to acquire him as a free agent.

Despite tentative interest from Barcelona and clubs in England, Davies has consistently expressed a preference for Real Madrid as his destination. Now, with a verbal agreement in place between Davies and Real Madrid, the path forward seems clear.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich is still endeavoring to persuade Davies to extend his contract. However, recent reports suggest that the club anticipates his departure and is preparing accordingly.

In light of the potential risk of losing Davies on a free transfer next year, Bayern is open to negotiating a transfer fee for the Canadian.

Recent indications from Bayern suggest that they are seeking a fee of €50 million for Davies. However, Real Madrid may initially propose a lower offer, around €35 million, as negotiations commence.

Nevertheless, with a verbal agreement secured with the player, Real Madrid appears poised to secure the services of Davies, whether through a transfer fee this summer or as a free agent in 2025.
