Manchester City’s striker Erling Haaland has been closely following the Premier League title race and confidently stated, ‘We are prepared to launch an offensive.’
City secured a 6-2 victory over Luton Town on Tuesday evening, advancing to the FA Cup quarterfinals at Kenilworth Road. Haaland played a starring role, scoring five goals for Pep Guardiola’s side, including a first-half hat-trick within 40 minutes.
Haaland, who recently returned from a two-month ankle injury layoff, has been in excellent form, netting seven goals in his last six appearances.
Additionally, the return to peak fitness of key player Kevin De Bruyne, who provided assists for Haaland’s first four goals against Luton, has further bolstered City’s attacking prowess.
The duo is determined to lead City’s quest for a fourth consecutive Premier League title. Currently trailing league leaders Liverpool by just one point, City faces a crucial showdown at Anfield next Sunday, with Arsenal also in contention just a point behind in third place.
Haaland issued a strong message to Liverpool, indicating City’s readiness for the challenge. “We’re on our way, and the title is within our grasp,” he told ITV Sport.
Regarding his own fitness, Haaland expressed confidence, saying, “I’m reaching peak condition. It feels fantastic to be back at my best. Exciting times lie ahead, and we are poised to make our move.”
City suffered a setback during their victory over Luton as Jack Grealish was forced off with a recurring groin injury in the 38th minute.
Grealish appeared visibly distressed on the bench, and Guardiola expressed concern about the situation, stating, “I haven’t spoken to the doctor yet, but it seems he complained about his groin, so it may be a similar issue.”
