Football fans were left speechless when Liverpool were denied a clear penalty after Doku’s high-footed challenge on Mac Allister.

At the conclusion of their Premier League encounter, a contentious decision left both Liverpool and Manchester City supporters questioning the outcome.

In a thrilling 1-1 draw between Liverpool and City at Anfield on Sunday, the Premier League title race remains tightly contested.

Midway through a well-executed corner routine, John Stones found the back of the net at the near post to give City the lead, after Nathan Ake created space by denying Alexis Mac Allister.

However, Klopp’s side quickly leveled the score just five minutes later. City goalkeeper Ederson brought down Darwin Nunez in the box while both players contested for the ball, resulting in a penalty that Mac Allister confidently converted.

Despite controlling much of the second half and creating several half chances, Liverpool failed to capitalize further. Meanwhile, City came close to securing a late victory when substitute Jeremy Doku struck the post.

Kevin De Bruyne’s evident frustration upon being substituted typified City’s nervousness in the second half.

As the match approached injury time, Liverpool believed they should have been awarded another penalty. Doku’s high foot caught Mac Allister in the rib cage in the 99th minute, prompting referee Michael Oliver to consult VAR.

However, play resumed swiftly after the check, leaving both sets of supporters incredulous at the decision.

Rarely do fans of City and Liverpool find common ground, but in this instance, neither side could accept Doku’s escape without penalty. One Liverpool supporter expressed disbelief, labeling it a “stonewall penalty,” while another echoed the sentiment, emphasizing Doku’s apparent “karate kick” on Mac Allister.

Acknowledging Doku’s fortunate outcome, a City supporter admitted that the decision could have easily gone the other way, emphasizing the importance of on-field decisions.

Another admirer questioned Doku’s actions, pondering what the player was thinking at that moment.

The draw maintains Arsenal’s position at the top of the standings, level on points with Liverpool and slightly ahead of City, intensifying the race for the Premier League title.
