Barcelona and Marcos Alonso have decided to part ways this June, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
According to El Laguero, Alonso has come to terms with Atletico Madrid to join them as a free agent upon his departure from Barca.
However, Alonso’s move to Madrid could hinge on Atleti’s ability to offload some defenders such as Mario Hermoso, Gabriel Paulista, or others.
Alonso has spent most of this season on the sidelines for Barca due to a back injury sustained in December.
Although he returned to action in late March, he has mostly been relegated to the bench.
The Spanish defender has made only seven appearances for Barca this season, making him one of the least utilized outfield players under Xavi.
Alonso arrived at Barca in 2022 as a free agent but has seen limited playing time, featuring in just 44 games during his tenure. Despite his limited appearances, he managed to score three goals during this period.
