Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is set to axe two underperforming players this summer after their poor showing against Manchester City in the Champions League.

Real Madrid will be eager to extend their lead in the La Liga title race as they face Mallorca this Saturday. With a comfortable eight-point advantage over Barcelona, Carlo Ancelotti’s side aims to maintain their distance from their fierce rivals, especially with another Clasico clash looming later in the season.

Despite the importance of securing three points against Mallorca, Ancelotti is expected to rotate his starting lineup with an eye on the upcoming Champions League quarter-final second leg against Manchester City.

The extent of rotation remains uncertain, but here’s a projection of how Real Madrid could line up:

In goal, Andriy Lunin is likely to continue as the preferred choice in the absence of Thibaut Courtois, despite his mixed performance in the recent draw against Man City.

At right-back, Lucas Vazquez may retain his place to provide rest for Dani Carvajal, while Eder Militao could make a return to the starting lineup alongside Nacho in central defense, considering David Alaba’s injury and Antonio Rudiger’s potential rest.

Fran Garcia might get a chance at left-back to showcase his abilities, having struggled to make an impact since his return to Real Madrid.

In midfield, Luka Modric could feature, providing experience and quality, alongside Aurelien Tchouameni, who will miss the Champions League quarter-final second leg due to suspension. Eduardo Camavinga is expected to add energy and tenacity to the midfield, following his impressive performance against Man City.

Brahim Diaz may operate as an attacking midfielder or center forward, offering creativity and versatility in the final third.

Up top, Joselu could lead the line, with the Spaniard being brought in for matches like these. Alongside him, Rodrygo might feature, providing pace and goal threat, especially after his recent contributions against Man City and in La Liga.

While this lineup presents a mix of experience and youth, it underscores Ancelotti’s tactical flexibility and squad depth, as Real Madrid aims to navigate through a crucial phase of the season with success in both domestic and European competitions.
