Reporter affirms Manchester United’s active negotiations for the acquisition of Bayer Leverkusen standout, boasting 12 goals and 11 assists this campaign.

Manchester United is reportedly in advanced discussions with Bayer Leverkusen’s wingback Jeremie Frimpong, as confirmed by Bild journalist Christian Falk.

Alongside Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, United is among the top contenders vying for the Dutch player’s services ahead of the summer transfer window.

Frimpong, who has a contract with Leverkusen until 2028, has an exit clause set at €40 million.

This clause must be activated before the start of the European Championship in June. Notably, United and Bayern have already initiated concrete talks with Frimpong’s management.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a stellar season with Leverkusen, playing a pivotal role in their impressive unbeaten run and contributing significantly with 12 goals and 11 assists across all competitions.

Leverkusen’s success extends to reaching the German Cup final and the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

United may find Frimpong’s asking price appealing, considering the current market conditions.

Despite his young age, he offers substantial potential and versatility, although questions remain about his fit within United’s starting eleven.

Primarily a wingback, Frimpong’s deployment could depend on United’s tactical approach, especially if they persist with a back four.

With speculation surrounding Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s potential departure from Old Trafford, Frimpong emerges as a viable replacement.

His ability to contribute defensively while offering an attacking threat makes him an attractive prospect for United’s squad.
