The announcement of Jurgen Klopp’s successor has taken fans by surprise, as the chosen replacement was unexpected.

Former Bayern Munich manager Kovac has recently been linked with a potential move to Liverpool as a replacement for Klopp.

However, Kovac has refuted these rumors, stating that there have been no discussions with Liverpool regarding the managerial position.

Despite being out of work for a month following his dismissal from Wolfsburg, Kovac maintains that there is no truth to the speculation linking him to Anfield.

His departure from Wolfsburg came after a stint lasting into his second season, with Ralph Hasenhuttl stepping in as his replacement.

Kovac is most notably remembered for his time at Bayern Munich between 2018 and 2019. During his tenure, Liverpool famously eliminated Bayern from the Champions League at the last 16 stage, en route to their sixth European Cup.

Notably, Bayern recorded a memorable 7-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur just before Kovac’s departure from the Allianz Arena.

Before his tenure at Bayern, Kovac achieved success with Eintracht Frankfurt, where he ended their 30-year trophy drought by winning the 2018 DFB-Pokal.

His final match in charge saw Frankfurt triumph over Bayern in the final, marking a significant achievement before his move to Bayern.

Kovac’s managerial career commenced with Croatia’s Under-21 squad in 2012 before he transitioned to the senior team from 2013 to 2015. He notably led Croatia at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, although they were eliminated in the group stage.

Meanwhile, Liverpool continues to explore potential candidates for the managerial position, with sources indicating their intention to interview three contenders before finalizing a decision.

Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim emerges as a leading candidate in the ongoing selection process.
