Todd Boehly has directed Pochettino to refrain from starting the Chelsea underperformer in future matches.

During Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on April 27, Mykhailo Mudryk, a striker for the team, faced severe criticism from fans.

Despite some lackluster individual performances, Chelsea showed remarkable resilience to come back from a two-goal deficit and secure a point.

Following a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Arsenal on April 23, Mauricio Pochettino’s youthful squad faced another tough opponent immediately. With several key players missing, Chelsea has faced lineup challenges throughout the season.

Despite Mudryk’s underwhelming performance against Arsenal, Pochettino opted to start him for the second consecutive game. However, the Ukrainian international had minimal impact on the game and was largely peripheral once again.

Due to a shortage of attacking options on the bench, Mudryk played for 89 minutes, with academy standout Tyrique George being the only like-for-like replacement. Mudryk won only three of his eight ground duels and completed two of his five dribbles successfully.

In the closing stages of the game, midfielder Cesare Casadei replaced Mudryk as Pochettino sought a late winner.

Mudryk’s performance left many Chelsea supporters disappointed, with several expressing their frustration on social media platforms.

Despite failing to secure a late victory due to a VAR intervention, Chelsea managed to salvage a draw at Villa Park and remained in contention for a win.

The draw hindered Aston Villa’s hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League. With three games in hand, Unai Emery’s side extended their lead over fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur to seven points.

After Marc Cucurella’s own goal in the fourth minute, Chelsea faced the prospect of suffering consecutive home and away league defeats against Villa for the first time since 1990. Although Nicolas Jackson equalized for Chelsea, VAR intervened before he could score again

Villa doubled their lead against the run of play just before halftime, putting pressure on Chelsea. Despite goals from Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher in the second half, Chelsea was denied a win by VAR. Axel Disasi also had an opportunity to score.

Despite the draw, Chelsea remains seven points behind sixth-placed Manchester United in the Premier League standings.
