This morning, Manchester United’s new owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has dismissed eight underperforming players to kickstart his rebuild in preparation for next season’s treble pursuit. These players have now permanently left the club.

As Manchester United looks towards the future after a challenging season, it appears that INEOS is already setting their summer transfer overhaul in motion. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team at INEOS believe that significant changes are necessary in United’s dressing room. However, they must navigate the constraints of a limited transfer budget.

The hefty price tags associated with potential targets like Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite and Crystal Palace attacker Michael Olise highlight the need for United to offload some players to generate the necessary funds for these acquisitions.

According to Football Insider, Casemiro and Antony are among the first players INEOS is considering offloading to kickstart their transfer overhaul.

Antony’s potential departure is somewhat expected given his lackluster form this past season, which saw him struggle to maintain a spot in Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup.

The Brazilian winger’s performances in matches like the embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and the 4-2 win over Sheffield United did little to showcase his abilities, as he failed to make a positive impact on the field. Despite these struggles, Antony has shown some upside, particularly in his ability to win back possession in the final third, averaging 1.7 times per match, making him the best in the Premier League in this specific area.

However, selling Antony now, after paying €95 million for him just two years ago, would mean United taking a significant financial loss. This financial hit is a crucial consideration for the club as they evaluate their options.

In contrast, Casemiro might have an easier path to exit Old Trafford despite his consistent struggles in both center-midfield and center-back roles. Reports suggest that Saudi club Al Nassr is prepared to offer a staggering €90 to €100 million for the star, though this seems unlikely, and United would probably settle for much less.

The likelihood of Casemiro’s departure is bolstered by reports that he bid farewell to his teammates following United’s FA Cup triumph. Additionally, his new role as a director of Marbella FC and acquisition of shares in the club could indicate that the 32-year-old is already planning for life after football.

Offloading both Antony and Casemiro would provide United with significant financial relief, enabling them to pursue their desired summer signings and rejuvenate the squad.

This strategy aligns with INEOS’s broader vision for a comprehensive rebuild aimed at returning Manchester United to its former glory. By freeing up funds through the sale of these players, United can address key areas of the squad that require strengthening.

Moreover, the potential departures of high-profile players like Casemiro and Antony signal a new era for the club, where financial prudence and strategic acquisitions take precedence. This approach could ultimately lead to a more balanced and competitive team capable of challenging for top honors inthe coming seasons.
