Martin Satriano’s superb volley puts Getafe ahead at Real Madrid

Martín Satriano stunned the home crowd by giving Getafe CF a surprise 1-0 advantage away to Real Madrid CF with a brilliantly taken right-footed volley on Monday night in La Liga.

The breakthrough came after a well-contested aerial battle in midfield. Mauro Arambarri rose highest to win a crucial header against Aurélien Tchouaméni, knocking the ball into a dangerous area on the right flank. Satriano reacted sharply, positioning himself perfectly to meet the dropping ball.

Without hesitation, he struck it first time from around 16 metres out, sending a powerful volley soaring beyond the reach of Thibaut Courtois. The shot flew into the goalkeeper’s top-left corner, leaving him with no chance and silencing the stadium.

The goal arrived in the 39th minute of the contest, which marked the final fixture of the 26th round of the Spanish top-flight season. Played at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the strike stood out as a moment of individual quality in an intense and closely fought encounter.

For Satriano, the goal represented his second in the league campaign. His first came on 14 February in a 2-1 result against Villarreal CF, further underlining his growing influence since arriving in Spain earlier this year. The 25-year-old Uruguayan forward joined Getafe during the January transfer window on loan from Olympique Lyonnais, with the agreement including an option for a permanent transfer, as reported by L’Équipe.

Before making the move, Satriano had experienced a mixed first half of the season in France. Representing Lyon, he found the net three times in 19 appearances across competitions.

Although his spell there offered moments of promise, the switch to Getafe appears to have provided him with renewed confidence and regular opportunities to showcase his attacking qualities.

Earlier in his career, Satriano also featured for French sides Brest and Lens, continuing to build experience in competitive European leagues. His latest goal against Real Madrid highlighted his composure, technical ability, and instinct in front of goal — qualities that Getafe will hope he continues to display as the season progresses.

Striking at such a historic venue against one of Spain’s biggest clubs will undoubtedly boost the Uruguayan’s confidence. If he maintains this level of performance, his loan spell could well turn into a permanent stay, especially if he keeps delivering decisive contributions like his superb volley in Madrid.
