Pep has reportedly admitted his top transfer target has rejected Manchester City to join United instead

BREAKING NEWS: Pep Guardiola has reportedly expressed frustration after missing out on a key summer transfer target, with the player now favoring a move to Manchester United instead of Manchester City.

In what is shaping up to be a dramatic transfer saga, the Spanish tactician is said to be disappointed that his priority signing has opted for Old Trafford over the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola, known for his meticulous squad planning, had reportedly identified this player as a crucial addition to strengthen his midfield options ahead of the new season.

However, developments suggest that United have taken the lead in securing the player’s commitment, leaving City to reassess their plans.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are actively preparing for a busy summer transfer window, with a clear focus on reinforcing their midfield department.

Reports indicate that the club intends to bring in at least two midfielders who can complement each other stylistically, as well as integrate seamlessly with emerging talent like Kobbie Mainoo.

The recruitment strategy appears to be centered on balance—pairing defensive solidity with creativity and athleticism.

One name strongly linked with United is Carlos Baleba, a dynamic midfielder currently at Brighton & Hove Albion. Known for his aggressive ball-winning ability and physical presence,

Baleba fits the profile United are targeting. The 22-year-old is valued at around £50 million, and insiders describe a potential transfer as highly realistic given the club’s long-standing interest.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also shed light on the situation, revealing that Baleba was already a top target for United in the previous summer window.

Despite a challenging season at Brighton—where he has struggled for consistent game time—his potential and attributes continue to attract attention.

Importantly, it has been disclosed that United reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Baleba back in 2025, a factor that could give them a significant advantage in negotiations.

Although nothing has been formally signed, this prior understanding means United have already laid much of the groundwork for a deal.

The remaining hurdle is reaching an agreement with Brighton over the transfer fee. However, competition remains fierce, as Manchester City and even Arsenal are also monitoring the midfielder’s situation closely.

In addition to Baleba, United are also reportedly interested in Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest. However, Forest have placed a staggering £125 million valuation on the player, which could complicate any potential deal.

While Anderson is widely regarded as a highly talented and well-rounded midfielder, such a hefty price tag may force interested clubs to consider alternative options.

As a result, the battle for midfield reinforcements is expected to intensify as the transfer window approaches.

Manchester United’s proactive approach, combined with existing agreements and clear recruitment strategy, could give them an edge.

At the same time, Guardiola’s disappointment highlights just how competitive the race for top talent has become, with Europe’s biggest clubs all vying for the same elite players.

With negotiations ongoing and multiple clubs involved, the situation remains fluid. However, one thing is certain: this summer’s transfer window promises to deliver high drama, major deals, and significant shifts in power across the Premieraaàq League.
