Amad Diallo has reportedly opened up after his costly mistake, but it’s what happened after the final whistle that’s causing serious tension

BREAKING NEWS: Tensions are reportedly rising inside Manchester United despite their dramatic return to Europe’s elite competition, as Amad Diallo has allegedly expressed deep frustration following a post-match exchange with interim manager Michael Carrick.

According to reports, Amad openly admitted that he made a costly mistake after coming on during United’s recent 3-2 victory over Liverpool, but what has truly escalated the situation was what Carrick reportedly said to him after the final whistle.

The winger is said to have been so disappointed by the manager’s remarks that he has already informed the club hierarchy of his intention to leave during the summer transfer window.

This controversy comes in the aftermath of a chaotic but ultimately successful outing for United at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils secured qualification for the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2023/24 campaign, but the performance itself exposed several cracks.

Carrick’s side looked comfortable early on, racing into a 2-0 lead before halftime and appearing to be in full control of proceedings.

However, the second half told a different story, as Liverpool responded quickly with two goals in a short spell to level the match at 2-2.

Fortunately for United, Kobbie Mainoo stepped up once again, scoring a decisive winner late in the game. His goal not only secured all three points but also capped off a remarkable week for the young midfielder, who had just committed his long-term future to the club by signing a new deal.

His rise has been one of the standout positives in what has otherwise been an inconsistent season.

Despite the victory, individual errors nearly cost United dearly. Goalkeeper Senne Lammens, who has generally impressed this season, endured a rare lapse in concentration. His misplaced pass out from the back led directly to Liverpool’s equalizer, scored by Cody Gakpo.

While the team ultimately recovered, such mistakes have highlighted areas that may require reinforcement in the upcoming transfer window.

Amad’s situation, however, has become one of the most pressing concerns. Once seen as a promising attacking option, the Ivorian winger has struggled to rediscover his form in recent months.

After returning from international duty earlier in the year, his performances have dipped significantly.

In fact, he has gone more than a dozen league matches without registering a goal or assist, raising serious questions about his role in the squad.

Against Liverpool, Amad started on the bench, with attacking responsibilities handed to players like Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Šeško, and Bryan Mbeumo. When he eventually came on, he failed to make a meaningful impact.

In fact, his misplaced pass contributed to Liverpool’s comeback goal, further compounding his struggles.

His performance was widely criticized, with some outlets rating his display among the poorest on the pitch.

There is growing concern that Amad’s confidence has taken a major hit, and comparisons are already being drawn to Alejandro Garnacho, another young talent whose form declined sharply after early promise.

For United, this raises a difficult decision: whether to persist with Amad and hope he rediscovers his potential, or to consider offloading him in the summer to make room for more consistent attacking options.

As the club looks ahead to a demanding schedule next season, including Champions League commitments, squad depth and reliability will be crucial.

Carrick’s future as permanent manager is still under review, but situations like this will undoubtedly factor into the club’s long-term planning.

For Amad Diallo, the coming weeks could define his future at Old Trafford. Whether he can repair his relationship with the manager and regain his place in the team remains uncertain.

What is clear, however, is that the winger now finds himself at a critical crossroads in his Manchester United career.
