Manchester United have allegedly beaten rivals Liverpool F.C. to sign a top winger in a dramatic transfer twist

Manchester United are reportedly set to strengthen their squad significantly ahead of their return to Champions League football, with Michael Carrick expected to be backed heavily in the upcoming transfer window.

The club’s recruitment strategy is said to focus on multiple key areas, as the squad will need greater depth to cope with a more demanding fixture schedule next season.

While midfield reinforcements remain the top priority, reports suggest that United are also actively exploring options in other positions, including a new left-sided winger and a central defender.

The aim is to ensure the team is well-balanced and capable of competing at the highest level both domestically and in Europe.

One of the latest names linked with a potential move to Old Trafford is AC Milan defender Strahinja Pavlovic.

According to reports from Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United have shown strong and “concrete” interest in the Serbian centre-back, indicating that he is now a serious target rather than just a scouting option.

Pavlovic, who is 24 years old, joined AC Milan from Red Bull Salzburg for a relatively modest fee of around €18 million just a couple of seasons ago.

Since arriving in Serie A, he has developed rapidly and established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the league.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with several clubs across Europe now monitoring his situation closely.

The defender has also drawn comparisons to former Manchester United stalwart Nemanja Vidić, largely due to his Serbian background, physical dominance, and aggressive defensive style.

Standing at 6ft 4in, Pavlovic is known for his strength in aerial duels, his commanding presence in the backline, and his ability to contribute offensively during set pieces.

This season alone, he has managed to score four goals in Serie A, further highlighting his threat in attacking situations.

Although AC Milan are not actively looking to sell him, the situation could change depending on their final league position.

Reports indicate that failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League might force the Italian club to reconsider offers, with a valuation believed to be around €40 million (approximately £35 million).

That figure could make him an attractive option for Manchester United as they look to strengthen without overspending.

However, competition for his signature is already beginning to emerge. Crystal Palace are said to have been among the first clubs to express interest in the defender, assessing the possibility of a deal before United entered the race more firmly.

Despite this, Manchester United’s involvement is now described as more serious and well-developed, suggesting they are preparing to challenge other clubs for his signature.

AC Milan, on their part, are reportedly reluctant to part ways with one of their key defensive assets.

Pavlovic has become an important part of their starting lineup, and his development into a top-class defender means the club would only consider selling if circumstances force their hand, particularly financial pressure linked to European qualification.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Pavlovic’s future is expected to become a topic of increasing speculation.

With Manchester United looking to rebuild and strengthen key areas of their squad, the Serbian defender could emerge as one of the names to watch in what is shaping up to be a busy and important transfer period at Old Trafford.
