Manchester United still see Carlos Baleba as one of the MOST exciting midfielders in Europe right now

There is always a lot of debate in football whenever a player suddenly starts performing at an elite level close to a transfer window.

Many fans immediately become suspicious and assume the improvement is only happening because the player wants to secure a big move or attract interest from top clubs.

However, that is not always the reality, especially when it comes to younger footballers who are still developing their game and learning how to consistently perform at the highest level.

In the case of Carlos Baleba, his recent rise can just as easily be explained by natural progression rather than transfer speculation. Young midfielders often need time before everything fully comes together.

Confidence plays a massive role in football, and once a player begins to trust his own ability, the performances usually improve very quickly.

Add regular game time, more tactical understanding, and experience against top opposition, and it becomes easier to understand why a talented player suddenly looks far more complete than he did months earlier.

What makes Baleba particularly interesting is the profile he brings in midfield. Manchester United have lacked a midfielder with his combination of athleticism, aggression, and forward-thinking play for quite some time.

He is not the type of player who simply receives the ball and passes sideways to maintain possession safely. Instead, he constantly looks to drive the team forward, whether through his movement, ball carrying, or progressive passing.

His style naturally adds more intensity and energy to the midfield. Baleba likes to engage physically, cover large spaces defensively, and press aggressively when the team is out of possession.

At the same time, he also has the technical quality to break lines with passes and transition the ball quickly from defence into attack. That balance is difficult to find, especially in younger midfielders.

Another important factor is that modern football increasingly values midfielders who can dominate transitions.

The best teams now want players capable of recovering possession quickly and immediately turning defence into attack with speed and purpose. Baleba appears to fit that mould very well.

His ability to carry the ball through pressure and inject tempo into the game could offer United a completely different dynamic compared to some of their more cautious midfield options.

Because of that, the conversation surrounding Manchester United’s recruitment has become more interesting.

The club now faces a genuine decision about whether Baleba is the right long-term investment for their midfield rebuild or whether they should prioritize a different type of player entirely.

Some may argue United need more experience and control in midfield, while others will believe Baleba’s physical profile, potential ceiling, and aggressive style make him exactly the type of modern midfielder the squad currently lacks.

Ultimately, it comes down to whether the club trusts its scouting department and coaching structure enough to develop him into one of the best midfielders in Europe before his value rises even further.
