Manchester United are preparing for another busy transfer window, but despite speculation surrounding several members of the squad, two of the club’s senior defenders have reportedly made it clear they are not considering an exit from Old Trafford.
Both Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui are said to be fully committed to remaining at the club, ending rumours that either player could be on the move this summer.
The Red Devils have already begun strengthening Michael Carrick’s squad ahead of the new season.
Their first major piece of business is expected to be the arrival of Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta, with the transfer reportedly agreed and only the final formalities, including a medical and official announcement, still to be completed.
However, Manchester United’s recruitment drive is far from over. Club officials are believed to be actively searching for reinforcements in several positions as they continue rebuilding the squad.
Midfield remains a key priority, with reports linking United to players such as West Ham star Mateus Fernandes and Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
Carrick is also understood to be keen on adding a new left-back, a natural left winger, a backup goalkeeper and potentially another striker, particularly if Joshua Zirkzee departs before the transfer window closes.
Zirkzee’s future has become the subject of increasing speculation after a frustrating 2025/26 campaign. The Dutch forward found regular opportunities difficult to come by under both Ruben Amorim and Michael Carrick, leading to reports that a return to Serie A could be on the cards if the right offer arrives.
Alongside the speculation surrounding attacking reinforcements, there have also been suggestions that Manchester United may look to strengthen at right-back.
Reports from overseas have claimed the club are exploring the possibility of signing another player for that position, raising questions about the futures of Dalot and Mazraoui.
Despite those rumours, both defenders reportedly have no intention of leaving Old Trafford. According to reports, neither player has asked to leave, nor are they actively seeking a transfer elsewhere.
Sources close to both footballers insist they remain happy at Manchester United and are fully focused on fighting for their places in Carrick’s squad ahead of the new season.
Mazraoui, in particular, is believed to be enjoying life at United after arriving at the club. The Moroccan international has also been impressing during the ongoing World Cup, where he has played an important role for his national team.
Although naturally a right-back, Mazraoui has frequently featured on the left side of defence, with captain Achraf Hakimi continuing to occupy the right flank for Morocco.
His versatility has once again been highlighted on the international stage, demonstrating why Manchester United value his ability to perform in multiple defensive positions whenever required.
Dalot’s international situation has been slightly different. The Portuguese defender has yet to establish himself as a regular starter during Portugal’s World Cup campaign.
Head coach Roberto Martinez has instead preferred former Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo in matches against DR Congo and Uzbekistan, leaving Dalot waiting for his opportunity to make an impact.
Even so, Dalot’s commitment to Manchester United reportedly remains unchanged. The defender is said to believe he still has an important role to play under Michael Carrick and has no plans to pursue a move away from Old Trafford despite the ongoing transfer speculation.
With United expected to make further additions before the window closes, competition for places throughout the squad is only likely to increase.
Nevertheless, the club can take encouragement from the reported decisions of both Dalot and Mazraoui, as their desire to stay provides Carrick with continuity and valuable depth in the defensive department.
As Manchester United continue strengthening key areas of the squad, it appears both right-backs remain fully committed to being part of the club’s long-term plans and are determined to help the team compete for major honours in the seasons ahead.
