Despite Kylian Mbappe’s contract expiring at the end of the season, there is still uncertainty surrounding his future, primarily because Paris Saint-Germain is determined to retain the superstar.
Mbappe has the freedom to choose his destination at the end of the season as he opted not to activate the one-year extension in his current contract over the summer.
This decision did not sit well with the Ligue 1 champions, leading to a pre-season incident where the club excluded him from their preparations, causing a significant stir before the season’s start.
While Real Madrid has long been the frontrunner for the 24-year-old and is widely expected to be Mbappe’s next destination in the summer, recent rumors suggest that two Premier League giants, Liverpool and Chelsea, are considering making bold moves for the striker in January.
Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly willing to make compelling offers to Mbappe during the winter transfer window, with the Italian magazine La Gazzetta dello Sport via Le 10 Sport suggesting that they are prepared to present him with “highly lucrative contracts.”
Both clubs have been linked to the PSG player in the past, but a January transfer seems highly improbable because the French team is unlikely to part with him in the middle of the season.
For such a transfer to materialize, a substantial offer would be required, which is currently challenging to envision.
It’s more plausible that Mbappe might either sign a short-term contract or leave on a free transfer next summer, allowing PSG to receive compensation for the Frenchman, who seems destined to don the white jersey of Real Madrid.
