Graham Potter is on the verge of taking the helm at one of the world’s most prominent football clubs.

Graham Potter is currently under consideration for the position of Sweden’s national team manager, further adding intrigue to his future in football management. This development follows recent rumors linking Potter to a possible role as the manager of Manchester United, potentially replacing Erik ten Hag.

The 48-year-old Englishman has been without a managerial role since his time at Chelsea came to an end in April. Potter’s tenure at Chelsea was a mixed bag, with 12 wins in 31 matches, ultimately resulting in his dismissal following a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.

Reports have suggested that Potter could be in the running for the Manchester United managerial position if Sir Jim Ratcliffe of INEOS, who is set to acquire a 25 percent minority stake in the club, decides to make changes. Ratcliffe is expected to implement various alterations to the club’s support staff at Old Trafford. Potter’s managerial abilities have earned him the respect of Dave Brailsford, INEOS’s chief, and his potential leadership at Manchester United was being seriously considered.

There were also previous links between Potter and Nice, another club owned by Ratcliffe, as well as reports of interest from Napoli for the manager’s services.

Now, Potter is emerging as a top candidate to take over as the manager of Sweden’s national team after the departure of Janne Anderson. Sweden’s failure to qualify for Euro 2024 has necessitated a change in leadership for the national team.

Potter’s connection to the Swedish football landscape stems from his seven-and-a-half-year tenure at Ostersund, where he played a pivotal role in their rise from the fourth tier to the Europa League. Swedish FA general secretary Andrea Mllerberg confirmed that Potter is indeed a candidate for the position.

Potter’s future remains uncertain as he continues to be a sought-after figure in the football world. His decision to accept or reject the role of Sweden’s national team manager could have consequences for the managerial landscape in various clubs, including Manchester United.

There is now increased pressure on Erik ten Hag’s future as the manager of Manchester United following the club’s recent 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.
