Today, it has been confirmed that Jadon Sancho has departed Manchester United to join a rival club.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Jadon Sancho and Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag had resolved their public feud, which had led to Sancho’s loan move to Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window last season.

Sancho has now returned to training with the United senior squad, but his future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.

According to The Guardian, Sancho is part of a group of players for whom Manchester United would consider offers. The club is looking to raise funds for what is expected to be an expensive transfer window.

Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee has agreed to join United from Bologna for around £35 million, a fee that reportedly represents the entirety of the club’s current transfer budget.

With new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe challenging the club to generate close to £100 million through player sales, United needs to free up resources to continue signing new players.

Sancho had been a prime candidate for a potential sale. Although he is no longer being actively pushed out, United would still entertain offers for the 24-year-old winger.

Borussia Dortmund has publicly expressed a desire to sign Sancho permanently, but financial constraints make such a deal challenging. This interest from Dortmund existed even before Sancho’s reconciliation with Ten Hag, which may have increased his value to Manchester United.

Recent rumors have linked Sancho with a move to Juventus. However, the Serie A club might also face financial difficulties in completing the transfer, especially since United no longer feels pressured to sell. The club is instead focusing on raising funds to secure the acquisition of at least two new center-backs.

One of United’s main targets is Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt, who has shown interest in moving to Old Trafford. Additionally, United has had a bid accepted for Lille’s Leny Yoro, who is also attracting interest from Real Madrid. The club is actively pursuing these defensive reinforcements as part of their summer transfer plans.

Efforts to sign Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite have been more complicated. Two bids for the defender have been rejected, with Everton’s negotiating position bolstered by the impending £50 million sale of midfielder Amadou Onana to Aston Villa.

United’s latest offer for Branthwaite matched this amount, but Everton’s strengthened financial situation has made negotiations more challenging.
